OTTAWA: This year, Federal Government Employees and Retirees raised more than $10,500,000 for HealthPartners and its 16 most trusted health charities through the Government of Canada Workplace Charitable Campaign (GCWCC); Canada’s largest employee giving campaign. The donations raised will support research, cures and treatments, and the delivery of local programs, education and prevention initiatives, for the 87 per cent of Canadians likely to be affected by chronic disease and major illnesses such as cancer, diabetes, heart disease, Alzheimer’s and arthritis.
“Every year, we are humbled and inspired by federal government employees and retirees who exemplify and expand the definition of “public service.” The generosity of our federal public servants supports the health of all Canadians,” says HealthPartners, CEO Eileen Dooley. “As our country ages, access to research and critical health services will become increasingly important. And we know that together, we can continue to find causes, cures and develop preventative strategies for the chronic diseases that affect us all.”
This year’s results show public servants and retirees continue to see the importance of choosing to support HealthPartners charities that fight disease like Alzheimer’s, Cancer, Arthritis and heart disease and stroke. “At HealthPartners we believe charities do better when we work together,” says Dooley. “Canada’s federal public servants and retirees have made a measurable difference to the impact of chronic disease through workplace charitable giving. Federal government employees go above and beyond their service to Canadians and help us build healthier Canadians and healthier communities.”
